Kitchens: Showing it all off

Minimalist kitchens gives me the heebs.  I wanted to keep it real and show you what 'real' kitchens should have in them.

Laughing my ass off at: Honey badger don't care

Sheese it's great to laugh - not just any laugh but a good ol' fashioned belly laugh!

Was catching up with some blog reading (in the car outside a friends house as I'm stealing her wifi - mine is under a boulder, another story) and found "Honey badger don't care" on the Design Crush website.

I'll explain for those of you who have yet to experience the delight that is -the Honey badger.

A clever craft/illustrator - Jen Ray, on Esty has designed a mug range based on a youtube clip about a honey badger narrated by a guy called Randall.  Sounds tres random (which it is) but watch and learn people.

I've been crying with laughter alone in my car/office which has cheered me up no end and I can log this day in as a goodin.

Quote o' the day

Christchurch is like a donut...

Sticky on the outside and fuck all in the middle.

Happy eating Cantabrians

I'm on the light train: Iacoli & McAllister

It's like when you buy a new car - then all you see are those cars.  For me it's light fixtures at the moment.

The Seattle based duo - Jamie Iacoli and Brian McAllister made beautiful products.  The ones that caught my eyeballs are their light fittings.

Simple and so good.

Bright spark: Jonah Takagi

Speaking of great products - I found these beauties the other day.

Bluff city 8 inch

Bluff city 14 inch
Designer: Jonah Takagi

"Born in Tokyo and raised in New England, Jonah received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2002. For several years, Jonah designed furniture that he built in a friend’s studio while he played bass guitar, touring and recording with several indie rock bands. Needing to develop and showcase a growing body of work that was filling his house but few had seen, Jonah founded Atelier Takagi in 2005"
Straight from the Roll & Hill website

Bird cage chic with a touch of earthquake proofiness.

Roll 'n Rocking (again)

Ni hao everybody.

Excuse me for the tardiness but on our last day in China, news came in that yet another earthquake hit our already ravaged city of Christchurch.  Nicely centered under my community in particular.

I thought it was scary being here during a shake but it's something else being a million miles away and unable to hug your family.  Major suck.

Upshot is that we are all ok - the house has more damage but still livable.  The dog is still on Valium and the dose has increased as he nearly got squashed by a boulder the size of a bus.

Said boulder is outside our next door neighbours house.

Needless to say that last week was a heady mix of jet-lag, anxiety induced aftershocks and weariness.  I could hardly string two words together let alone a blog so that will explain my absence.

I'm hoping to be back all but sporadically.  Time is a great healer (so is toilet humour, great design and block-colour).

Also a huge thanks to my following friends who continue to support me from afar.
Love ya's.

Any tips?

Next week sees me heading to China for a quick visit.

It's all heads down working (very exciting p.s.) but always keen for readers tips.

Anyone?
