Spotted: CHANA fabric from Jim Thompson no.9

Recently I was shown this fabric (Opus Range) from the new Jim Thompson family - No.9.

Ever so fun and versitile I just keep thinking of uses for it.

Called CHANA after the indian chickpea it has a wee "ikat" edge which sets it apart from your standard polka dot.

Super colour range - it even has a white on white.  Ooohhhh.

Sweet (and Savoury) Dreams

Ever dreamt about sleeping on a hot piece of toast, buttered sheet with a spaghetti dooner?

  Well that was the inspiration for Bed Toppings.

Australian designer Sophie Farquhar uses her own illustrations to create these super fun bed-scapes.

I love all of these - they all tick my design boxes.  Witty, colourful and good quality.

...Lets hope they do them in big-kids sizes soon!

Shopping for: Nga Waiata Rings

My frayed nerves perked no end when my Nga Waiata 'Amazonite' ring arrived.

My ring - apols for the "winter" hands.

I chose 'Amazonite' because it sounds cool and more importantly it has these powers:

brings clarity and clear spirit 
soothes emotions. 
dispels negativity 
enhances communication concerning love

Nga Waiata is a North Island designer and artist.  Her products are sold all around the world.  Even the wonderful Paul Smith stocks these wee beauties in his Paris store.  Makes me proud as ol' punch.

Her name is pronounced naaaa-y-a-taa, it is a maori name which means the songs or music.

Tiki-o-rama: NZ artists

Tiki:

The term tiki is applied to carved human figures generally, both by the Maori and by other polynesians. 

The name possibly has some connection with the myth of Tiki, the first man created by Tane.

On the other hand tiki or tikitiki is also a general term for carving in many parts of polynesia, as, for instance, in Niue, where the Tiki myth is unknown and human figures were not carved. 

In New Zealand, however, tiki is usually applied to the human figure carved in greenstone as a neck ornament. The full name is hei-tiki.

Colour saves the day!

Someone out there is really trying to test me.  In between earthquakes and no internet my head is exploding.  I know that I should me more grateful as I have my heath, house etc but it still all leads to a shitty day.


BUT..


2 things have happened.


1)  Today I wanted to counteract the doom so the fluoro pink tights came out.  A random person came up to me, said thank you, and told me I made her day.  She made my day just by saying I made her day.  Days made all over the shop.


2)  I found a nice little stress reliever that involved colour.  I tried it and loved it.
