Giveaway: God save the Queen "Sure to Rise" Tea towel

It's very exciting when you get the feedback from people reading your blog and I appreciate every single one of you!

In honor of you good folk I am doing my first giveaway and I couldn't think of  better prize(s).

Rebecca from God Save the Queen had kindly donated her cleverly designed tea towel "Sure to Rise" .  Since they are so clever (and I want to support her too) I will add to the kitty and raise her 2 tea towels.

Therefore we have 3 tea towels to give away!

Rebecca designed this tea towel to help raise money as she lost her beautiful shop and home after the 22nd Feb 2011 earthquake here in Christchurch.  Her story is moving....

She is clever, talented and generous so if you don't win you could always buy one from her!

For the Christchurch locals (and any visitors) she sells "God save the Queen" products out of her temporary premises at 37 Oxford St, Lyttleton on a Saturday 10-1pm.  The Lyttleton Market is just across the road in the school so it's killing two birds with one stone!

She will also be taking the God Save the Queen shop to Wellington with the help of Hands up Wellington - an amazing concept of bringing Christchurch businesses up to Wellington (Hands up pay for the freight and supply manned stalls).

It's on the 2nd and 3rd of July.  Get along if you can as it's a chance to support these fine businesses that have struggled through these hard times!

My Office

No - this is NOT post-earthquake!  It's peri-autumn-cleaning at my home office which is now the head office for Alex Fulton Design (post-earthquake).

Magazine coming to photograph house in next wee while so it's all a go-go.

How did I get so famous I hear you ask?  Well it was at the Sumner School Hall Opening (big time I know)

He spoke so well and told an extremely amusing story that involved crocodiles, marriage and one million dollars... Had to be there I guess.  Had the crowd riveted.  

He actually brought a tear to my eye and when he asked if we were all ok after the earthquake I really felt like he was speaking to me directly - Hug?  

Great day for Sumner School and for AFD.  I'm going places people I tell you - and just think, you were all there when it first started (you can say you knew me ok).

Cheese-free design

This room is good.  I mean really good.

There's nothing contrived or silly or annoying about this room (maybe that lightshade and the wrought-iron curtain rail but I'm nit-picking), just great colour, aesthetics and balance.

Too often I see in countless magazines "the formula" and in this I see the complete opposite... A room that is designed with the heart and not the "Joneses" in mind.

Oh and that chair.

Bravo and yay for a cheese-free room.

The room to read in...

As the days get shorter here in the southern hemisphere I'm finding that more of my customers* are brightening their interiors in an effort to compensate.  

I'm also finding that during this uncertain time post earthquake (and during all these ratting aftershocks - just had one as I write!) I have customers wanting to juzzh up there surrounds.  I say let's do it!

I wanted to share my design for one in-particular as it gave me a thrill designing it.
